So, I don't know if you've seen the High-Five! montage by my friends Jake, Bob and Jack. If you haven't, go watch it, I'll wait.
That video was enough to get the attention of Jake's higher-ups at Funny-or-Die and they created the much anticipated sequel: High-Five Hollywood! Take a look, it's fun times.
As a side note, I did the effects for the final shot of the Hollywood video.

So I finally made the jump to Leopard last weekend. Overall, I'm fairly impressed with it. Time Machine is definitely nice. But Something always bugged me about the way Time Machine is accessed.
If I'm looking for something in a folder and I want to access a TM backup, I have to go down to the dock, then click Time Machine. Sure, I could put it in the sidebar, but it's not a search or directory or drive, it's not even really a program, it just brings up an interface. And yes, you could put Time Machine in the toolbar, but that just looks ugly.
After some very minor searching, I ran across this post on The Pug Automatic blog. So I grabbed the PSD, threw a Time Machine icon on there, and turned it into a .icns fle with Icon Composer. Here's how I got it into a copy of Time Machine for the toolbar:
• Make a copy of Time Machine. I named mine "Run Time Machine." (This is so you can still keep a clean copy in your dock or elsewhere as the new icon is only 32x32.)
• Right-click on your new copy and select "Show Package Contents..."
• The file we're looking for is in Contents/Resources/backup.icns.
• Replace that file with the icon I made here (right-click, save as).
• Finally, drag your new toolbar ready Time Machine to the, well, toolbar and enjoy your extra .3 seconds you've saved.

Well, I'm not whistling, but someone else is... every day... the same song ("Young Folks"). It's catchy, but I'm starting to get annoyed.
Things have been crazy insane these last couple months which is a good thing. I've been working (nearly) full time lately and it's just now starting to ease up a bit. The only down-side is I haven't had much time to work on another project or two I had planned on having done by now. But I guess I can't complain too much.
Our new house is coming together quite nicely. We have one more room to paint and one room to unpack. After that, the inside is all done. Originally we wanted to finish off our patio this year (lay pavers on top of the gravel), but that will probably have to wait. Actually, we're not quite sure how we'll do it since the gravel is already even with the lawn and sidewalk and the pavers + sand will add another 2-3 inches. The lawn will be easy since I really want to rip it up, even it out and lay new sod, but the sidewalk might present a bit of a problem.
We also finally settled on a date and time for our "Yay we have a new house!" party. July 9th from 1-5. We'll be sending out invites this weekend. If you don't get one, I'm sorry. But you're still more than welcome to join us! Just drop me a line and I'll hook you up with the info.

So I found this little gem of a game called Zwok. Basically, it's a snowball fight, but online! It's actually quite a fun little game. Catchy low-key music, great art, and easy to pick up! You can either join up and create an account (and save your scores, stats, etc) or just play anonymously. I'm "halation" on the green team if you ever see me.
The gameplay is also very basic. Use the arrows to move your player, then click the mouse to aim. After everyone's made their choices, the server updates and you get to see who hit who. Last team standig wins! This game was apparently created by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.

Thank Eric H for this one. The reactable is a a different kind of instrument. It is essentially a synthesizer, but instead of using a keyboard it has a tabletop surface that reacts to specific objects placed on it. You really have to see it in action to understand what I mean.
More info after the jump.

Emily thinks it's silly. She might be right, but a paper wallet is a fun conversation piece, and a perfect compliment to a duct tape wallet.
It's a little flimsy and my attempt needed tape on the edges (thus removing the hidden pockets), but it's thin and I'll always have something to write on!

So first things first: the site's back! Now... onto what's happened since. Mainly two things: we bought a house and we got a kitty, in that order.
Our new place is great. It's pretty much what we were looking for in the right area. We're not quite as close to the lake, but it's still walkable. It's a little bizarre to think that we actually own this house. After nearly two months, it's finally starting to feel like our place. And while we set aside funds for the inevitable purchases we would make, I don't think I quite realized how much stuff can go into a house. All is well, though, and we're looking forward to our "Yay House!" party in a month or so.
Secondly, our kitty. His name is Hamlet and we adopted him from the humane society a week and a half ago. At about 10 months old, he's a playful one. He hasn't quite learned about play time and quiet time... I doubt he ever will. He's a great little guy to have around, though; always doing something amusing, causing mischief, or cuddling on the couch with us. Unfortunately, he likes to bit when he plays (not hard enough to break skin, but enough to be annoying). We're working on that, but if anyone has any suggestions I'm willing to hear them.
On a completely unrelated note... the Wii. We got WarioWare: Smooth Moves when it came out... and were quite disappointed. WarioWare is one of those games that's great for parties. Having 4 people playing these crazy minigames is a blast. Smooth Moves has great minigames, but the multiplayer just plain stinks. The only way to play with more than one person is to pass the controller between everyone. I want to know who thought that was a good idea.
It looks like we'll be selling our copy, hopefully not at a used game store where they'll give me maybe if I'm lucky. I've tried craigslist, but people don't seem to be biting. But I'll get rid of it somehow.

Coin Heaven (never heard of them either) collected a few screen shots from old Mario beta tests originally found on Unseen 64. It's a great collection of pics that shows just how much changed before the games were released.
It would've been nifty if Magikoopa was a playable character in MarioKart 64.

Sunday morning I became the proud owner of a new Nintendo Wii. This thing is fun.
At first I was a little worried about how well the motion sensing controller would work, but it turns out it's pretty damn accurate! At first the cursor was a little shaky on the main menu, but all it took was an adjustment to the sensitivity to correct that. The actual motion part was great too. There's something to be said for playing tennis and being able to just swing your arm to control the speed, arc, angle, and spin of a ball (versus some insane button/analog-stick combination).
We've been playing Wii Sports, Zelda, and Monkeyball pretty much since we've gotten it. (It was well worth the 9 hour wait outside Target!) I even downloaded our firt Virtual Console game today: Bonks Adventure.
Thanksgiving is going to be a lot of fun this year!

Well, I officially handed in my letter of resignation to Image Makers. It was a hard decision to make, but the opportunities it affords me are to good to pass up. I will be working on more creative projects in the near future and have more free time to refresh my professional site and reels.
